Your First Visit to Our Practice

Before arriving at our office we ask that you view our Getting Started Video – it is specifically intended for new patients and it will answer a lot of your questions and prepare you for your first visit.

Set aside an hour for your first visit, as it may take up to that long to complete. Upon arriving at our office if you haven’t already completed the new patient forms, which are available on our site, you will be handed a health profile form to complete. Once this is completed you will see the chiropractor.

He may ask you about the following:

  • Personal and family medical history
  • Major illnesses you have experienced
  • Surgeries or operations you have had
  • Medications you are taking
  • A description of your present condition
  • The steps you have taken to manage your condition
  • Your sleeping habits, daily activities, work routine.

TIP: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for your visit to the chiropractor!

The Examination

The chiropractor may ask you to change into a gown and will perform some of these tests:

  • A check of your blood pressure
  • A test of your reflexes, strength and sensations
  • An analysis of your posture
  • An x-ray of your spine (off site at a local x-ray facility)
  • An analysis of your movement; he will observe how you walk, turn, bend or lift things, as well as how your body moves in the affected area
  • A computerized gait (walking) assessment
  • A hands-on evaluation of how well your spine moves, identifying restrictions and areas of improper motion.

These assessments give Dr. Robichaud a better picture of your complete health.  The doctor will only perform tests that are indicated.

A Brief Explanation

At the end of your examination, Dr. Robichaud will explain to you his examination findings, tell you your diagnosis and let you know how he can help.  After the matter of consent is dealt with treatment usually begins.  If the doctor diagnoses a condition more appropriately treated by another health care professional, he will make a referral.

TIP: Bring a copy of any x-rays or radiology reports you have.

Payment Information

You are expected to pay for your initial session immediately following the examination. We direct bill whenever possible, so bring your insurance information.  We accept MasterCard, Visa, Debit, cash and cheques in the event your insurance doesn’t allow direct billing or you do not have insurance coverage for chiropractic.  Our staff will process your payment.
