Your First Visit to Our Practice

You will be warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. Help is on its way!

Before arriving at our office we ask that you view our Getting Started Video – it is specifically intended for new patients and it will answer a lot of your questions and prepare you for your first visit.

Set aside an hour for your first visit, as it may take up to that long to complete. Upon arriving at our office if you haven’t already completed the new patient forms, which are available on our site, you will be handed a health profile form to complete. Once this is completed you will see the chiropractor. He may ask you about the following:

  • Personal and family medical history
  • Major illnesses you have experienced
  • Surgeries or operations you have had
  • Mediations you are taking
  • A description of your present condition
  • The steps you have taken to manage your condition
  • Your diet and exercise
  • Your sleeping habits, daily activities, work routine, stress level, and home life.

TIP: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for your visit to the chiropractor!

The chiropractor may ask you to change into a gown to perform the some of these tests:

  • A check of your blood pressure, pulse, and breathing
  • A test of your reflexes, strength and sensations
  • An analysis of your posture
  • An x-ray of your spine
  • An analysis of your movement; he will observe how you walk, turn, bend or lift things, as well as how your body moves in the affected area
  • Surface electromyography to assess your muscle nerve function
  • Surface thermography to assess your autonomic nervous system, the part of your nervous system that helps to control your organs, glands and blood vessels
  • A computerized gait (walking) assessment
  • A hands-on evaluation of how well your spine moves, identifying restrictions and areas of improper motion.

These assessments give Dr. Robichaud a better picture of your complete health.

TIP: Bring a copy of any x-rays or radiology reports you have.

You are expected to pay for your initial session immediately following the examination. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Debit, cash and cheques. Our staff will process your payment and then book your follow up visit for your Report of Findings.

Dr. Adrian Asks some important questions of interest to Oshawa residents - Chiropractor Oshawa Dr. Adrian Asks...

Do nerves actually get pinched?
Chiropractors recognize two types of nerve disorders involved in subluxation. The least common is a pinched nerve that diminishes nerve supply to an affected organ or tissue. More common is the irritated nerve (facilitative lesion) which overexcites nerve communications to an affected organ or tissue. Chiropractic care has been shown to help with both types.
Why are chiropractors wary of the germ theory?
Louis Pasteur originated the idea that germs caused disease. Yet, on his deathbed he recanted, declaring, "It's not the seed, but the soil." Meaning, it's not the germ that causes disease, but the condition of the body that allows the germ to thrive. Chiropractic care in our Oshawa office is designed to bolster your resistance so germs don't see you as a good host.
